10 Ways to Build Customer Trust—Big Business Style

Last week’s article, “Two-Fifths of Americans Don’t Trust Companies with Logos They Don’t Like,” ending up being enormously popular, so I thought I’d offer a small follow-up. Avoiding graphic design sins aside, how does a brand go about building trust?

I found a great article on Entrepreneur, “Secrets of the 10 Most-Trusted Brands,” that offers some ideas. It takes some of the world’s biggest companies, such as Amazon and Target, and picks one detail out of their business model that’s believed to be a major part of their success. Some of the details selected are sort of obvious (“Live up to your promise”), but others I thought were clever and thought-provoking (“Design an experience; Serve up the quirky”). Definitely worth a read, especially if you’re interested in the idea of building trust with your customers.

That’s it for this week guys! Thanks for reading, and see you all next week!

MONDAY MIKE FACT: The Men’s Olympic Basketball final was one of the most boring games I’ve ever watched, even though the score was close. 22 fouls in the first half, and what seemed like 9,000 airballed perimeter shots.
